army veteran and doting father has been given just months to live after being diagnosed with a rare cancer which was initially misdiagnosed.

Joe Shepherd and his family have been devastated after medics discovered a cluster of tumours on his liver which turned out to be neuroendocrine cancer (NETS).

The disease has since spread to the 37-year-old’s pelvis, sternum, spine and left shoulder despite undergoing gruelling rounds of chemotherapy, Teeside Live reports.

The father-of-four worked in the armed services for more than 15 years until he became unwell and was medically evacuated from Afghanistan in September 2019.
