EXCLUSIVE: Reese Witherspoon-backed production outfit Hello Sunshine has set a multi-year partnership with Lyda Hill Philanthropies’ IF/THEN Initiative to make projects about women and girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Hello Sunshine, which is owned by Candle Media, joined with the industry consortium IF/THEN to announce the team-up on Tuesday, which is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
A slate of scripted and unscripted films and TV series is expected to result from the collaboration, though specific project details are yet to be announced.
Docuseries focused on women’s sports and music and are already in production, with additional titles in the pipeline. Social campaigns, educational programming, and experiential activations will complement and build on the projects themselves, the partners say. “At Hello Sunshine, we’re committed to changing the narrative for women and girls across industries and fields,” said Zoe Fairbourn, Hello Sunshine’s Head of Partnerships and Branded Entertainment. “By partnering with IF/THEN, we’re committed to breaking barriers and celebrating authentic stories of women thriving in these fields so that we can inspire the next generation to see themselves in STEM.” The IF/THEN Initiative is a cross-industry consortium with 30-plus members including National Geographic, the Nature Conservancy and Discovery Education.
