Hundreds of customers claimed they are owed nearly £40,000 collectively after a restaurant owned by a Michelin star chef closed down.

Glynn Purnell closed his Birmingham restaurant Purnell's after 17 years due to the knock on effect of the Covid pandemic and increased costs and wages.

The TV chef said he was 'heartbroken' over the decision, which has now reportedly left 246 customers fighting to get their money back for vouchers they can no longer claim at the restaurant.

In a Statement Of Affairs sent to creditors, corporate recovery firm Butcher Woods outlines 246 'consumer creditors' who had bought vouchers and paid deposits for Purnell's Restaurant, with the total amount being £39,375.
