Hamilton’s racecourse sustained “considerable damage” during the red-warning winds of Storm Eowyn, with the structure of its trackside marquee being blown apart during a day of hurricane-force winds.Pictures from the Bothwell Road venue show the roof coverings having been blown off and the supporting structure and large sections of glazed doors and windows smashed to the ground after the destructive weather event.Course officials have closed off the affected area and are now working to assess and repair the damage, which occurred during the quieter months of its diary with three months until the first scheduled race meeting of the year.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

As the trackside marquee is a permanent structure, it could not be dismantled prior to the storm.“However, we remain committed to ensuring minimal disruption to our operations.
