Stirling's bin collections restart after Storm Eowyn brought service to a halt

Stirling’s suspended bin collections during Storm Eowyn are to resume this week.Stirling Council postponed all scheduled bin collections on Friday to protect workers’ safety as winds up to 100mph battered the area.The authority has now confirmed that those services have now recommenced and crews will be out this week to empty bins that could not be lifted as a result of the storm.Residents whose brown bins were not collected on Friday are being asked to present them at the kerbside on Wednesday, January 29, and those will be emptied before Sunday, February 2.

However, to avoid further disruption to scheduled collections this week, the council says that glass boxes that were due for collection on Friday will not be uplifted from individual households until the next scheduled collection.Instead, the council will provide additional, temporary “community glass recycling bins” where residents can dispose of glass.

That will be available for residents from Wednesday, January 29.The temporary glass collection points, for residents needing to recycle excess glass before the next scheduled collection, can be found at:Glass can also be recycled at the recycling centres at Lower Polmaise, Callander and Balfron.A Stirling Council spokesperson said: “We thank residents for their patience and understanding as we deal with the impact of Storm Eowyn.”
