Greggs, McDonald's and Starbucks among fast food retailers slashing prices after VAT cut

fast food chains over the coming months. Tory chancellor Rishi Sunak announced last week that VAT will be slashed from 20 per cent to five per cent in a bid in certain sectors, including hospitality, to restart the economy post- lockdown.

The reduction in VAT came into effect yesterday and will be in place in the UK until January 12, 2021. Fast food chains such as McDonald’s and KFC have already reduced the price of a lot of items on their respective menus, reports the Mirror.

Greggs, Nando's, Starbucks and more are set to follow suit with discounts on hot food and drink for all customers this week.
