Landlords across Manchester have been urged to offer some of their houses to NHS workers for free during the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 2,500 short-let properties near hospitals that would otherwise be empty, such as AirBnbs, will be offered to frontline workers across the UK by the end of this week.

The COVID-19 outbreak has caused a massive downturn in bookings in the short-term rental market, according to the Short Term Accommodation Association (STAA).

But within a week of launching the NHS Homes scheme, housing management companies have secured over 800 rooms - worth around £2.6 million in rent - for NHS staff.
