Royal Ascot started on Tuesday with a bumper 36-race programme arranged by organisers. The five-day event is the biggest racing festival to take place since the sport’s return at the start of June, and, as with all other UK sporting events currently scheduled for this summer, no spectators will be allowed in.
Racing was suspended for more than two months from mid-March until June 1, meaning this year’s Grand National had to be cancelled.
The three-day festival at Aintree normally attracts 150,000 spectators, but this year fans had to make do with a virtual race instead.
Next year though, things are planned to return to normal. When is the Grand National 2021? Next year’s Grand National will be held in its usual April slot.
