Mum jailed after licking windows at Tesco and saying she hoped staff got coronavirus

A mum, who claimed she had coronavirus and licked the windows of a Tesco supermarket, has been jailed. The Liverpool woman said she hoped staff caught the virus.

Amanda Welch was suspected of shoplifting at a Tesco Express in, Liverpool city centre, on May 2 when staff confronted her. As she was challenged by a security guard at the store, the 45-year-old told him: "I will stab you in the f***ing head with a needle", a court heard.

CCTV footage captured her behaviour after she entered the shop around 7am, with Thomas Wallace, 50, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool Crown Court heard the guard told Welch to leave because of the threat, but followed her outside with a colleague. Iain Criddle, prosecuting, said: "He says she was making a
