Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified eight-times platinum in the UK.
The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.
Golf star Rory McIlroy has filed for divorce from his wife Erica on the eve of the US PGA Championship at Valhalla. Court records show the Northern Irish star submitted a “petition for dissolution of marriage” in Palm Beach County in Florida on Monday, 14 May.
The pair met in 2012 when Erica was working for the PGA of America at the Ryder Cup after she helped him get a police escort to the course after he misread his tee time for the Sunday singles.
The sportsman made it to the course with just minutes to spare and went on to beat Keegan Bradley as Europe pulled off the ‘Miracle at Medinah’ by recovering from 10-6 behind to retain the trophy.
He and Erica married in 2017 and have one child together, daughter Poppy Kennedy McIlroy, who was born in 2020.The pair tied the knot at Ashford Castle in County Mayo, Ireland, at a star-studded ceremony attended by One Direction star Niall Horan and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, while Ed Sheeran and Stevie Wonder performed at the event.
