Richard Madeley announced on Wednesday's episode of Good Morning Britain that there was 'breaking news' regarding Phillip Schofield on the show.

This follows speculation from Tuesday suggesting that Phillip, 62, is poised to make his TV comeback after a 16-month hiatus next week.

Discussing the topic on the show, Good Morning Britain anchor Richard, 68, mentioned: "Still to come, Richard Arnold will be here with breaking news on the return to television of Phillip Schofield." In Richard Arnold's later segment, he shared that Phillip had hinted at a 'big announcement' on his Instagram the night before, reports the Express.

Former This Morning host Phillip, 62, teased on his Instagram Story on the night of 24 September: "Watch this space... 9am [wink emoji]." Talking about the social media post, as well as a Channel 5 teaser that dropped called Cast Away, which shows a man walking on a desert island beach with one chance to 'finally tell his story', the GMB studio shared their thoughts.
