The man who knifed six people in a stabbing spree before being shot dead has officially been named as Badreddin Abadlla Adam.
The 28-year-old was from Sudan and had been staying in the Park Inn Hotel on West George Street where he attacked three fellow asylum seekers, two hotel staff members and a policeman.
The hotel was being used to house asylum seekers during the coronavirus pandemic and the incident is not being treated as a terror attack.
People who knew the 28-year-old attacker said he was known as Badradeen. PC David Whyte, 42, was one of those knifed and he is currently recovering in hospital.
