An 11-year-old girl has described the heartbreaking moment her dad smiled for the final before dying - having saved his kids from a rip current.
Schoolgirl Lauren Stevens watched on with brother Joshua, four, as her heroic dad Jonathan saved their siblings Lacey, 12, and Jack, 10, from the sea in Barmouth, North Wales, on Sunday afternoon.
But the plasterer, aged 36, was unable to get himself to safety and later died in hospital. Speaking to The Sun, with the permission of her mum Laura Burford, Lauren explained how she alerted lifeguards who dove in to save her dad - but by then he "looked lifeless" in the water.
They brought Jonathan, known as 'Joff', back to shore and he was able to open his eyes for one last time and see his children
