Join thousands of others who have signed up for the Daily Record newsletter.Old Kilpatrick author Steven McKay admits that ghostly goings on at Dumbarton Castle helped inspire him to start writing.The author, who is originally from Milton, is set to release his latest historical fiction novel - The Northern Throne - next month, with the book featuring the local landmark on the cover and covering a battle for control of Dunbartonshire after the Romans have departed.And Steven revealed that the area’s rich history is something that sparked his interest in writing.He told the Lennox: “I used to work in the Castle as a steward, so things happened whilst I was there - ghostly things - that meshed with the history in my head to make me interested.
