Gary Neville has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson consulted the Manchester United defenders on whether he should sign Louis Saha.
United were on the search for a striker in the January transfer window in 2004, with Saha a target as he impressed for Fulham in the Premier League.
And former United right-back Neville said Ferguson broke his own protocol by asking, after a meeting with Fulham, whether Saha would be an appropriate signing at Old Trafford. "Sir Alex never asked us which players we should sign or never asked us information about players he was going to sign," Neville told Sky Sports. "But after we played Fulham one time in the FA Cup, he actually asked us as defenders, would we sign Louis Saha?
