Gareth Southgate has promised to continue to 'closely' follow the progress of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood. Greenwood, 20, has enjoyed a strong start to the new season for United, scoring a total of four goals across 12 appearances but just once since Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival.
The youngster's outstanding goal from distance against Leicester was a timely reminder of his talent, however, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has regularly named Greenwood in the Reds' starting XI, the England boss has opted to snub him once again.
Considering Greenwood's form, his omission for the England squad has been a talking point since Thursday's announcement. Southgate was duly asked about his decision to not include Greenwood in the Three Lions
