Southgate wants Kane to be match-fit during the international break, as well as summer tournaments. Whereas Mourinho wants him ready to face the mounting fixtures for Tottenham that are coming up, including grueling trips in the Europa League.
Kane is pivotal for both club and country and it saw Mourinho and Southgate rear heads. One barb included the Spurs boss referring to Southgate as "Gary" after misunderstanding the short version of Gareth.
