England manager Gareth Southgate has admitted his penalty misery at Euro '96 still haunts him today. Southgate famously missed a crucial penalty after England's semi-final shootout against Germany had gone all the way to the sudden death.

The Three Lions were subsequently knocked out, leaving the nation devastated. But, after losing six of seven shootouts in major tournament history the Three Lions, spearheaded by Southgate, overcame their spot-kick heartbreak to beat Colombia in a frenetic last-16 clash at the 2018 World Cup.

But Southgate says he still thinks about his personal penalty misery - despite playing a vital role in the national team's recent revival.
