Gareth Edwards in Talks to Direct New ‘Jurassic World’ Film
variety.comKatcy Stephan “Rogue One” director Gareth Edwards is in talks to direct an all-new “Jurassic World” film for Universal. The news comes days after the studio’s negotiations with David Leitch fell apart.
The film will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce and David Leitch and Kelly McCormick will also produce through 87North.
David Koepp, the original screenwriter of “Jurassic Park” and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park,” will pen the script. The currently untitled project, scheduled for release on July 2, 2025, will mark the beginning of a fresh storyline in the decades-spanning dinosaur series.
It’s still unclear if any previous stars, including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern or Jeff Goldblum, will return.
