military helicopter has hit the speed of 205 knots (235 mph) while cruising at low altitude in a stunning video. Set to be a record-breaker, the "next generation" helicopter which is a joint project with Sikorsky and Boeing, has already surpassed the top speed of the legendary Black Hawk in the test on June 9.Footage shows Sikorsky chief test pilot Bill Fell put the aircraft through its paces as he skims just above the tree-line.The helicopter has coaxial contra-rotating rotors, which means parts of the mechanism rotate in opposite directions, and Mr Fell manoeuvres the helicopter at various angles to show off its dexterity and ability to turn tight angles.He says: “That’s 200 knots true airspeed.
