The Met Office has issued a fresh 12-hour warning for snow and ice. Large parts of the UK experienced snowfall overnight, leading to travel disruptions and nearly 200 school closures.The new yellow weather warning is effective in Wales from midnight on Wednesday until 12pm, with similar warnings for Northern Ireland, Scotland and east England.The Met Office has cautioned that icy conditions could lead to challenging travel conditions on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.They have advised those in affected areas to anticipate longer journey times and to be wary of untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
In a statement they said: “Snow showers will develop during Tuesday night and through Wednesday morning. Some lying snow is likely with 1-2 cm in places and a risk of up to 5 cm over higher ground. "Ice will readily form on untreated surfaces.
Snowy, wintry weather can cause delays and make driving conditions dangerous. Keep yourself and others safe by planning your route, giving yourself extra time for your journey.
