Fugitive sex offender Nicholas Rossi is to be interviewed in prison by detectives over an allegation of rape in Essex. English police are currently making arrangements to question Rossi at Saughton Prison in Edinburgh.

The American was remanded in custody last week over a high-profile extradition case in which he faces being sent back to the US over two allegations of rape in the state of Utah which date back to 2008.An investigation by the Sunday Mail has established how American citizen Rossi fled from his home in Rhode Island in 2017 and turned up at the home of Michelle Minnaar in Essex after chatting to her online.They spent five weeks together in an abusive and coercive relationship during which he allegedly raped her.Essex Police have now ramped up their probe into that rape allegation and want to come to Scotland to speak to Rossi.A source close to the investigation said: “Police are going to interview him about this alleged rape.“They’d initially planned to speak to him in Glasgow but since he’s been remanded in custody it is a little more complicated to arrange and they’ll have to make arrangements with the authorities in Scotland.“Police have found it difficult to get to him due to his recent concerning behaviour.“They’ll want to access him in prison and ask about what happened in Essex in 2017.”Talks will soon take place between Essex Police, Police Scotland and the Scottish Prison Service to facilitate the interview, it is understood.Rossi, who is fighting the extradition process, claims that he’s an entirely different person called Arthur Knight who was born in Ireland and has never been to America.But that has been formally dismissed in a court after fingerprints proved he is Nicholas Rossi - also known
