She has become the face of one of the biggest scandals in British history. Paula Vennells enjoyed a life of success and respect as the boss of the Post Office between 2012 and 2019.
But while she earned millions, hundreds of sub-postmasters had their lives ruined after being wrongly accused of stealing from their own branches.
More than 700 people were wrongly prosecuted by the Post Office and handed criminal convictions between 1999 and 2015 as Fujitsu's faulty Horizon IT system made it appear as though money was missing at their branches.
Some were sent to prison, many suffered financial ruin, while several took their own lives.
