Its breathtaking mountains and tranquil lakes have attracted visitors for centuries, but now the Lake District has received the very modern title of being the UK’s most Instagrammable National Park.
Once a place that inspired poets and writers such as William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, today you’ll more likely find the Lake District popping up on your Instagram feed than in a poem.
In fact the National Park, only a 90 minute drive from Greater Manchester, has amassed nearly five million hashtag posts on the social media platform, according to new research.
As of April this year there was a total of 4,909,785 posts for the combined Instagram hashtags #LakeDistrict and #LakeDistrictNationalPark.
