Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has urged Billy Gilmour to follow in the footsteps of Manchester United legends Roy Keane and Paul Scholes, insisting the young midfielder has what it takes to enjoy “a fantastic career”.
Gilmour, 18, has proved a revelation since making his Blues debut back in August, putting in man-of-the-match displays against Liverpool and Everton last month.
The Scottish youngster even impressed Keane, notorious for his ruthless approach to punditry, who branded his compatriot “world class” after his terrific performance against Liverpool.
Lampard, too, is clearly a massive fan of Gilmour, tipping his midfield gem to emulate the likes of Keane and Scholes. “I had to put my cup of tea down to hear Roy say something nice!
