France could go into another nationwide lockdown with an "exponential rise" in coronavirus cases reaches 7,000 a day. President Emmanuel Macron raised the possibility of placing the entire country back into lockdown as France recorded its biggest daily rise in infections since March.
Fears were raised as 7,379 more cases were confirmed on Friday, bringing the total in France to 267,077. It marks the largest daily spike since the peak of its first wave in March 31 when 7,578 cases were counted, the BBC reports.
Mr Macron said a second national lockdown could not be ruled out if infections spiralled out of control, speaking shortly before Friday's figures were released.
