space rock travelling at mind-boggling speeds will fly past Earth today.So close in fact, that the boffins at NASA describe the distance the asteroid reaches as a "near Earth object".The space rock known as 2021 FT is roughly the size of a house and measures approximately 13 metres in size.As it makes its way through the solar system 2021 FT will be travelling at speeds of 4.3 kilometres per second, the equivalent of 19,440 kilometres per hour (12,000mph), reports the Daily Express.The asteroid will come its closest to the Earth today (April 2) before safely moving on its way.Thankfully, there will be no scenes from the film Deep Impact replicated today though as the asteroid will safely pass by.Considering its relatively small size, even.
