Flu vaccine ‘running out across UK’ as Covid demand risks elderly missing out on jab

Tens of thousands of vulnerable people are unable to get a flu jab despite health chiefs warning these are crucial in the battle against coronavirus.

High street pharmacies Boots and Lloyds have had to suspend bookings for over-65s because of a shortage of the vaccine, while patients at NHS surgeries face waiting weeks.

Public Health England (PHE) has said that people are twice as likely to die if they contract Covid-19 and winter flu at the same time.

Surgeries are running out of jabs due to huge demand, believed to be ten times higher than it was last year, after the first wave of jabs were rolled out.
