Two flood alerts have been issued in Greater Manchester with a 'be prepared' warning in place. The alerts, which outline the risk of potential flooding, cover parts of Stockport, Sale, Stretford, Altrincham, Urmston, Cheadle, Wilmslow and Gatley.

The alerts have been put in place on the same day that the Met Office issued weather warnings across parts of Greater Manchester for snow, ice and rain.

Heavy snow hit the region on Sunday morning (January 5), causing major road closures and delays, including to flights to and from Manchester Airport.

A flood alert is in place for the Middle River Mersey catchment area, including areas near Bramhall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham and Urmston.
