King Charles is set to deliver his first King's Speech as monarch today which will include a list of legislation the Tories plan to deliver over the next Parliamentary term.
The state opening of Parliament traditionally marks the new Parliamentary session every year and will see MPs, peers, and the monarch all gather at the Palace of Westminster for the occasion.
The King's role in the speech is to deliver the programme for the session which he will read out on behalf of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the government.
Customs involved in the ceremony date as far back as the 17th century and include the iconic Black Road banging on the door of the Commons.
