Five men arrested during police operation into disturbance after Kilmarnock/Motherwell match

Five men have been arrested and charged following an incident after a recent Scottish Premiership football game.The arrests come after an operation involving officers from both Ayrshire and Lanarkshire police divisions.The day of action, supported by partners at COPFS and both Kilmarnock and Motherwell Football Clubs, was carried out on Tuesday, December 20, following "serious disorder" in Kilmarnock on Saturday, August 27, 2022, after their Scottish Premiership match against Motherwell.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The five men have been released and are due to appear in court at a later date. Inspector Iain Farmer, from Ayrshire Division, told Lanarkshire Live: “Police Scotland has a zero tolerance approach to football-associated violence and we take all reports extremely seriously. "We will continue to work closely with the clubs to ensure the safety of everyone attending any fixtures.”Last month, police released images of six men they wanted to speak to over a pub disturbance after the game.The incident took place in The Clansman Bar on Kilmarnock's John Finnie Street around 5pm, after the match.It is understood a barmaid was attacked, while bottles were launched, with windows smashed - the incident was also said to have caused “thousands
