A woman who died following a disturbance in Shetland has been named locally.Claire Leveque, 24, was discovered by police following an incident in the Sandness area at around 4.55pm on Sunday.
Emergency services raced to the scene but Claire, who was originally from Canada, was sadly pronounced dead.A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment and has now been charged in connection with her death.
An investigation is ongoing, led by Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team.Several police vehicles, ambulances and coastguard teams were seen at the nearby Melby pier area on Sunday after the incident was reported.It's understood a large number of officers remain in the area where inquiries are being carried out.
