Woman found dead in Ayr home named locally after husband appears in court

A woman who was found dead in their Ayr home has been named locally as Christine Davies.The body of the pensioner, believed to be 69, was discovered after police raced to a disturbance at a home on Whitletts Road on Saturday evening.Officers discovered on arrival that Christine had tragically died.

Her death is still being treated as 'unexplained'.A 70-year-old man, believed to be Christine's husband, appeared in court yesterday following the incident around 4.45pm on March 2, after he was arrested and charged in connection with assault.

Kenneth Davies has been charged with assault to severe injury. He also faces a charge, relating to assaulting or impeding police.

Mr Davies made no plea during a private hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court. He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody, and is due to appear in the dock again within the next eight days.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.45pm on Saturday, 2 March 2024, police were called to an address on Whitletts Road, Ayr, following a report of a disturbance.
