Fikayo Tomori has admitted he nearly quit Chelsea after struggling but a pep talk from his father prevented him. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season under Frank Lampard this year.
He has made 22 appearances in all competitions, however, he has lost his first-team spot to Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma. Nevertheless, it has been a fine year for Tomori - who also made his first appearance for England under Gareth Southgate.
But it has not been easy for the centre-back, who had spells at Brighton and Hull before moving to Derby last season. It was at the Rams where Tomori's career took off, under Lampard's tutelage, which put him in good stead when the Blues took the reins at Stamford Bridge.
