Dozens of bars and restaurants across Manchester city centre are facing losing their outside spaces. Huge chunks of the city centre have been closed to traffic since last year, allowing businesses to spill out onto the streets and turning roads into restaurant terraces.
Those temporary beer gardens are set to disappear later this month when 25 roads are due to reopen to vehicles, as emergency coronavirus legislation comes to an end - though councillors are rallying for the move to be made permanent.
