Fearne Cotton and Jesse Wood's messy first date and 'chaotic' family life ahead of shock split

Fearne Cotton once gave fans an insight into her very messy first date with her husband Jesse Wood. Previously discussing the earlier stages of their romance, Fearne, 43, reminisced about inviting Ronnie Wood's son over to her home, in an attempt to avoid media attention.

Contrary to what people might expect on a first date, their evening didn't include a romantic dinner, but vodka and cigarettes instead. "We definitely didn't eat," she admitted on the Table Manners podcast in 2021. "For our first date, I was a bit nervous because this was a point in my late 20s where, for some reason, there was interest in who I was dating, and it was really horrible." She continued: "My husband is now, and he'll talk about this publicly, has been sober now for eight years, but he wasn't when we met.

So he turned up at my house with a plastic bag with a bottle of vodka in, and we drank that and we did not eat a thing." After getting to know each other better, the pair got engaged in 2013 and tied the knot a year later at the Richmond Registry Office in south west London.

Fearne and Jesse share two children, Rex, 11, and Honey, eight, while she is also a stepmum to Arthur, 21, and Lola, 18, Jesse's kids from his previous marriage.
