Everton have confirmed their first summer signing with the Toffees agreeing a deal for Niels Nkounkou.The French defender rejected a professional contract at Marseille.That created interest across the continent for the exciting 19-year-old full-back and winger.Italian giants Juventus were also keen on Nkounkou.But the Toffees have beaten the Serie A side to his signature.Everton sporting director Marcel Brands has highlighted Nkounkou as a future star.“Niels is a young, talented player with good technical and physical skills,” said Brands. “We have been following him for months.“Hopefully he can learn a lot from Lucas Digne and Leighton Baines, as well as Carlo Ancelotti and David Unsworth, and follow the same pathway into the first team.
