However, the United Kingdom stepped up to the plate and will host the contest in Liverpool Arena this week, which can hold up to 11,000 Eurovision-crazy fans.The home of The Beatles is pulling out all the stops to give the event a Ukrainian flair in their honour.
Ukrainian musicians will be performing all week, and the Eurovision Village will be hosting a special collaboration between Ukrainian and Liverpudlian artists before the contest.
