The Association Of Motion Picture Sound, the UK body representing more than 550 professionals in the fields of film, TV and game sound, has responded to AMPAS’s decision to remove the Best Sound Oscar from its live broadcast.

Late night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel took on the controversial Oscar move to pre-record certain categories – documentary short, film editing, makeup/hairstyling, original score, production design, animated short, live-action short and sound – rather than broadcast them live during the 94th Academy Awards on March 27.

Banijay Rights, the global sales arm of French production giant Banijay Group, which is behind such hit formats asSurvivor,Wife SwapandTemptation Island, on Monday named John Richards CFO. The combined group will be led by Marco Bassetti, the CEO of Banijay Group.

Jake Kanter International TV EditorSophie Turner Laing is to step down as the CEO of Endemol Shine Group next week after Banijay Group completed its $2.2BN takeover of the production giant.Turner Laing has run MasterChef and Big Brother producer Endemol Shine since 2014, but will step down on July 10 and Banijay Group CEO Marco Bassetti will take control of the combined entity, which remains unnamed.The completion of the takeover follows the European Commission providing regulatory approval for the deal earlier this week, eight months after Banijay first announced it was acquiring its competitor from Disney and Apollo Global Management.
