A campaign to save an artwork of "dazzling beauty" hidden inside a closed church has won important backing - from across Europe.
A 1955 mural by Hungarian George Mayer-Marton of Christ on the cross dominates the interior of Holy Rosary RC Church in Oldham.
But the building stands empty, after shutting for good due to a dwindling congregation. Redundant for four years, it is now at risk from developers, but is not of sufficient architectural value to be given listed building status.
