A flight to Manchester Airport was forced to divert mid-air due to a 'medical emergency'. The Emirates flight to Manchester departed from Dubai as normal this morning (Wednesday, October 18) but was forced to divert to Istanbul in Turkey.
The airline said a passenger suffered a medical emergency during the journey. Medical professionals met the plane after it landed in Istanbul and 'offloaded' the passenger.
The flight then departed again for Manchester, a spokesperson for Emirates confirmed. Upon arrival in Istanbul, the passenger was met by local medical staff and offloaded to receive the necessary treatment. "Flight EK17 departed Istanbul and is continuing its journey to Manchester.
