An easyJet flight had an emergency landing after a rare 'red alert' caused by the co-pilot on the aircraft fainting mid-air.
Chaos erupted on the flight which had departed from a London airport, believed to have been Luton. 193 passengers were onboard during the medical episode, with a red alert issued in response to the incident.
According to local media, the other pilot sucessfully landed the aircraft without facing any issues. Paramedics were already on the runway when they arrived.
The co-pilot was rushed to Lisbon’s Santa Maria Hospital, reports the Mirror. A red alert is a mandatory halt of operations as a safety measure on a plane.
