EastEnders legend Cheryl Fergison has surprising new career a decade after BBC exit

EastEnders fans might be surprised to learn that BBC soap legend Cheryl Fergison has a totally different career years after leaving Walford.

The star is best known for her role as Heather Trott from 2007 until 2012, before she was killed off by Ben Mitchell in March that year.Her last appearance in the soap actually came in December 2016, however, when she returned as a disembodied voiceover on a mixtape found by Dot.But Cheryl now has a totally different career - as she has become a singing teacher and toting lessons over Zoom for £60 per hour.The star offers one-to-one Zoom tutoring in singing, songwriting and various other disciplines - including scriptwriting, screen acting and confidence building.Her classes are advertised via TikTok, and The Sun reports that an email sent out to potential clients reads: “You will have an hour with me where you can choose the subject/s that are of interest.“It is important that these 1-2-1 sessions are tailor made just for you.” It also seems that Cheryl hasn’t quite forgotten her soap roots, as she is also willing to answer “questions you may have regarding my time at EastEnders, or any other roles on stage/TV that I have portrayed and worked on”.

She is also keen to teach youngsters how she “developed the character of Heather Trott”.It comes after she admitted she struggled to find work after quitting EastEnders, as she found herself typecast in a certain kind of role.She said in 2020 that Heather is “fairly hard to shake”, and she ended up playing fairies in various pantomimes because of her “lovely and kind” character.

And she even teased a return to Walford as Heather’s “long lost twin” - though admitted it would be more likely she would land a role on Emmerdale or Coronation.
