EastEnders' Heather Trott star Cheryl Fergison lands new acting role after turning to benefits

EastEnders legend Cheryl Fergison, who famously portrayed Heather Trott, has secured a role in the critically acclaimed sitcom Mandy.

Filming has begun for the new series, which sees the lead character navigate through a series of humorous misadventures while evading her benefits officer.

New additions to the cast include Sian Gibson from Car Share, Rosie Cavaliero from The Power of Parker, Jamie Bisping from Things You Should Have Done, Joanna Bacon from Breeders, and Cheryl, although details of her character remain under wraps.

BBC's Director of Comedy, Jon Petrie, has expressed excitement over the upcoming series, stating: "Series 3 saw Mandy save a plane from a terrorist attack, commit mass murder with a blowpipe, and get fired from a biscuit factory.
