East Lancs Road partly closed after icy weather conditions cause crashes
manchestereveningnews.co.ukFor the latest news from in and around Wigan sign up to the MyWigan newsletter herePart of the East Lancs Road has been closed this morning due to icy weather conditions.Drivers have been warned to avoid the stretch of road between Haydock Island and Golborne Island if they are travelling towards west towards Manchester.The road was shut from around 10am after emergency services were called to deal with crashes caused by the ice.One crashwhich happened at around 9am involved a van which flipped onto its side after a collision with a hatchback carA spokesman for Transport for Greater Manchester advised drivers to plan extra time for their journeys.They said: "The East Lancs A580 has been closed from Haydock Island to Golbourne Island inbound.
