East Kilbride Indoor Bowling Club hosted the World Under-25 Championships last month.A total of 18 countries took part in the tournament, with a “tremendous” standard of play throughout.Participating countries were welcomed by Provost Margaret Cooper, World Bowls president Alison Merrien and club president Michael Ormiston.Piper Michael Dailly piped the participants round, before all enjoyed a buffet provided by the club.Play started on Monday, December 4, on a round robin basis, with the mixed pairs starting off the day, before finishing with singles games.By the Thursday the knock-out stages of all tournaments were played.In the Mixed Pairs, Emily Kerrick and Harry Goodwin beat Rebecca Moorbey and Jan Klossner in their quarter-final, while Aleena Binti Ahmad Nawawi and Muhammad Idham Amin Ramlan beating Lauren Gowen and Ryan Davies in their quarter-final.Shauna O’Neill and Ryan McElroy beat Emma Murphy and Kholwani Khanyile in their quarter-final, while Jesse Cottell and Nathan Black beat Gloria Ha and Langley Au Young in theirs.That led to the semi-final, with Kerrick and Goodwin beating Nawawi and Ramlan, while O’Neill and McElroy beat Cottell and Black.O’Neill and McElroy beat Kerrick and Goodwin in the final.In the Ladies’ singles, the semi-finals were contested between two Scots players in Aimee Harris and Sophie McGrouther, guaranteeing one of them to be in the final.In the end, Shauna O’Neill beat Harris in the final to land a double title win.O’Neill had defeated Estee Parry in her quarter-final, with Catherine Bonsall beating Jordan Kos.Harris beat Jesse Cottell in her quarter-final, while McGrouther beat Shae Wilson.O’Neill beat Bonsall and Harris beat McGrouther to set up the final.In the Men’s singles, Ryan
