East Kilbride go 10 games unbeaten at Lowland summit as boss discusses Ally Roy loan exit to Alloa

Mick Kennedy says he is happy with where East Kilbride are at right now, after his injury-hit squad made it 10 games unbeaten at the top of the Lowland League.Kilby defeated Civil Service Strollers 2-0 at K-Park on Saturday to rack up their eighth win over the campaign, thanks to goals in either half from Nathan Flanagan and Marc Kelly.With Kennedy’s men yet to lose a game in the fifth tier they sit three points clear of nearest rivals Hearts B and Cumbernauld Colts at the summit, although their rivals have played two games more.

Fourth place Tranent, on the same number of games as EK, are four points adrift.While Kennedy joked that Saturday’s win wasn’t up to their recent high-scoring standards that saw them hit eight past Whitehill Welfare in the Scottish Cup last week and smash six past Maybole in the South Challenge Cup the previous week, he is happy to see his side sitting pretty at this stage.He said: “I know that when we are not scoring five or six every week, people are disappointed but we were actually very good against a well-organised Civil side.“Their manager (Alex Cunningham) is a very good coach and has them very disciplined in their shape out of position in a 5-4-1.

That made it difficult to break down until we got into the latter stages of the game and we should have won it more comfortably in the end.“Our goalkeeper didn’t really have a save to make in the game so I was really happy with our performance.

It’s another three points.“Teams are seeing some of the results we’ve been having and are looking at a way to stop us rather than them trying to win the game.“It is up to us to manage that.
