East Kilbride boss Kevin Rutkiewicz says he’s “won a watch” if he gets anything like the player that Regan Thomson can be, and goalkeeper Max Currie provides longevity as he tries to rebuild a nucleus in his squad.The Kilby boss made the double swoop to snap up Currie on an 18-month deal from Queen of the South and picked up midfielder Thomson from East of Scotland League club Syngenta, following his release from Hamilton Accies in October, without kicking a ball.Rutkiewicz says he’s trying to replace five players he lost from his squad, with top striker Cami Elliott moving to Dundalk earlier this week.On Thomson, the K-Park gaffer said: “Regan has had a tough time over the past 12 to 18 months and he just has to find himself and fall in love with the game a wee bit again.“We’re delighted to offer him the opportunity with us, and if we can get any sort of version of player that Regan truly is, then we’ve won a watch.“There’s a wee bit of love, care and due diligence to do with him, we have to protect him as well, but he’s hungry and definitely focused on getting back to the levels that he’s sort of flirted with.“It’s a deal until the end of the season and it’s one that works for both parties.“It’s about trying to get him back in and realign him to the pathway that he had, maybe a couple of years ago when he was a hot property.”Currie has come in to replace Curtis Lyle, who has moved to Stenhousemuir following a loan spell from Kilmarnock.Rutkiewicz worked with his brother Blair at Stirling Albion and knows the family well.He said: “We got a wee bit of luck.
