People often go to great lengths to protect their vehicles from theft, but one homeowner's extreme security measure has become the subject of online mockery.

A photo shared to X (formerly Twitter) showed the driver had installed two retractable bollards at the end of the driveway, each about three feet tall.

Despite the resident's efforts, the effectiveness of the bollards was soon called into question thanks to the wide garden areas on either side of the driveway."Those bollards should keep their car secure," the original poster wrote sarcastically alongside the snap, which has received 1.2 million views and prompted a wave of ridicule. "That's an old photo," quipped one commenter. "There are now two Keep Off The Grass signs either side of the driveway."An IT expert remarked: "That's the sort of picture those of us in cybersecurity normally use to illustrate the effectiveness of a client's firewall policy." A third person added: "Yes, because car thieves definitely don't like driving 4x4's on grass.

After all, they mess up the lawn and that just wouldn't do."Meanwhile a fourth joked: "Maybe the grass on both sides is actually fake and is covering huge boobytrap pits with spikes at the bottom."Elsewhere, others tried to rationalise the homeowner's actions.
