Witnesses reported seeing the crash at around 8.45am today (Wednesday) on Rochdale Road. The incident took place near Moorhouse Primary School — the school says no pupils, parents, or staff were injured.
Parents nearby intervened and detained the driver, according to the headteacher. Children were then 'quickly' escorted into the school building.
A statement on behalf of headteacher Mrs Milnes said: “An incident outside Moorhouse Academy this morning has been safely managed by staff and parents.
